We will miss you Grammie

After battling cancer for nine years, my Grammie finally couldn't fight the battle any longer. She passed away last night at 8:05. My mom was there by her side. The Reese family was blessed to see her one more time back in May. Hudson was lucky to meet his Great-Grammie before she passed. She just celebrated her 82 birthday last week; we all think she was living to see us, meet Hudson, and celebrate her birthday.
She was such a kind, creative and spiritual woman. I hope she is at peace now and living without any ailment. We all love her very much and will miss her tremendously.

Father's Day

Today we spent the day with daddy. We woke up and opened gifts; Hudson loved helping tear the paper. We then went to the lake for a few hours. Hudson is more enthralled with the sand than he is the water. We have a round float that he can sit in and we used it last summer, BUT this summer he wants nothing to do with it. I think he thinks he is too big for it.
A new fascination this week is the broom. Hudson loves to help mommy around the house. He drags the broom all over the house including the carpeted bedrooms! When you see him in action, he really thinks he is sweeping and takes his job very seriously.

Snapping Turtles

Since Tim loves turtles, we decided to go feed some snapping turtles in Urbanna. Hudson was amazed at how many there were- you can tell this from one of the photos. These turtles have been here for generations. They live behind this woman's house; she has been feeding them since she was a little girl. We made sure we didn't get too close as we were feeding them.

A day at the beach with Emerson

We went to Lauren's cottage this weekend for some R&R; it was also for Lauren's suprise 30th birthday party. The kids went to the beach for a little while. They like each other's company but still only co-play. Hudson was on the move and didn't want to sit next to Miss Emerson for too long. Hudson loves the sand and enjoys digging and collecting rocks. I guess he is doing boy things:)

Our trip to CA- the narrative

We spent a week in CA. We decided to fly directly to San Francisco and then rent a minivan to Modesto. I was very apprehensive about the flight. Six hours is a long time to sit still for anyone not to mention a 15 month old. On the way to CA, Hudson was very well behaved; he slept for the first hour and then played with all the new dollar store toys I bought for him. Whoever gave me that advice- thank you. All the NEW toys kept him very busy. The minivan experience was great; If I could afford a new car I would most certainly buy a minivan. It was so roomy and easy to put Hudson in his car seat. Our car is a little high so you have to hoist him up into his seat.
Grandpa was excited to see how much Hudson had changed. The last time he was with Hudson he was not walking. Nana was not at home because she was in OR taking care of my Grammie. Grammie is very sick and the nurses are saying she only has a couple of weeks left.
She knew we were going to come visit her. She was asking my mom when we were coming numerous times in a day, so my mom decided to make a calendar and count down the days with her until we arrived.
I think this visit was one of the last things she looked forward to.
We spent a few days in Modesto- having a milkshake with Grandpa, visiting an Apricot Festival with a petting zoo, and visiting Pebble Beach. Hudson had a great time at the petting zoo; he was able to pet a sheep, bunny and kick some chickens. I had to rescue the chickens from my son.
When we finally got to OR on Tuesday, we were happy for Hudson to meet his Great- Grammie. She lit up when we entered the room. She would sleep a lot throughout the day, but anytime Hudson was in the room she wanted to know what he was doing. She wanted to watch him eat, play and take a bath. It was such a blessing that she was able to meet him. It was hard for me to see my Grammie in such a state. I want to remember her the way she used to be; full of life.
After our two day visit with Grammie we decided to take Hudson to the San Francisco Zoo. We also stopped by for him to meet his Great-Grandad. Hudson liked the zoo but loved the petting zoo there more than anything.
We all had such a great time. I would not have missed seeing my grandparents and Hudson seeing both his grandparents and his great-grandparents.
